Traditionally produced in open vats using pasteurised milk, the cheese is salted and milled into hoops where it gets turned for around five days before being transferred to the maturing stores. Here, it is individually matured and lovingly graded by hand at regular intervals to create the perfect Stilton.
About Tuxford and Tebbutt Stilton Cheese:
One of only six creameries producing Stilton in the world, Tuxford & Tebbutt has a long history of producing the finest quality Stilton cheese. Using milk from the three English counties of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, Tuxford & Tebbutt Stilton is made today with the same traditional skills used by master cheese makers over the last two hundred years. Every Stilton is graded prior to leaving our creamery, to ensure it meets the required standards of colour, taste and texture. Tuxford & Tebbutt, established in 1780, is the export arm of The Cheese Company, one of the UK's leading cheese producers. Uniquely amongst UK cheese exporters, only Tuxford & Tebbutt is able to offer a full range of Cheddar, Regional and Stilton cheeses, not only produced, but also packed in our own facilities. By controlling all aspects of the production process, from the sourcing of the milk, through production, maturing and storage to the final cutting and packing of the cheese, Tuxford & Tebbutt ensure that you and your customers can have total confidence in the quality of our cheese, day after day.
